On Behalf of Family and Friends, The Kent Pankow Trust Fund, and Wild TV; it is with the heaviest of hearts and sympathy that we must pass along that Kent lost his tremendous battle with Brain Cancer, this morning July 12th, 2010.

Kent was fortunate enough to have had the time to say a personal good-bye to family and friends, while remaining at home during the last few weeks of his life.

It is our greatest hope that Kent will find happiness, peace and comfort as he begins a new journey and that all who knew and loved Kent will not mourn his loss for long in sadness and grief but will find the spirit to celebrate a life well lived, and to take an example from Kent, and find the inner strength to live, love and breathe again.

Kent you are an inspiration. You are loved. You are missed.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who helped Kent in his battle with cancer. Your donations, auction items, fund raising, support, phone calls, emails and everything that everyone has done to help us during this trying time is appreciated beyond words.

- Dieter, Lea, Ryan and Garrett Kohler

In January of 2000, Kent had a seizure and was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) tumour, It was the size of a golf ball, in the right frontal lobe of his brain. Kent successfully underwent 2 skull surgeries, maximum radiation and Temodal chemo treatment at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton.

The surgeries resulted in minor memory loss and Kent remained free of cancer for 7 years.

The Cross Cancer institute ordered an urgent MRI on Sept 10th 2009. It revealed that there are currently 3 tumours in Kent’s right frontal lobe, covering a 10 cm area which has expanded into the centre of his brain. The Mayo Clinic has access to drugs that are not yet approved in Canada and they have surgeons who can conduct motor mapping to reduce the risks associated with brain surgery. Kent's surgery will take place in an MRI surgical suite under the capable hands of Dr. Ian Parney and team. The Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota is ranked No.1 in Neurology and Neurosurgery in the U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals rankings.

Why Fundraise?

According to the financial advisors at the Mayo Clinic, the costs for Kent’s treatment could be as high as $120-140,000 US. The cost of skull surgery alone ranges from $76,000 to $84,000 US.

His chemo treatments will be $4,550.00 CDN per IV injection, and he will require a chemo treatment every three weeks indefinitely after surgery. Then his rehabilitation begins. These funds will only be used for Kent's medical bills and medications. Any money that is left over after Kent is "Cancer Free" will be given to the Canadian Cancer Society in a bid to help other people stricken with this terrible illness.

Ryan and Garrett have set out a path to help their brother Kent in his journey with his brain cancer.

Dieter now has set up this formal trust fund for Kent.
